Meal Prep Company Reviews: Clean Eatz

Clean Eatz is a nationwide meal prep company, which provides both meal prepped meals and serves as a fast casual restaurant. While researching Clean Eatz history, I learned that it is owned by a couple who has completely devoted themselves to educating others around healthier lifestyles. Their mission behind Clean Eatz is simple; provide access to nutritional options. They have now franchised Clean Eatz across the globe for over 10 years! I was eager to try Clean Eatz because I knew I could recommend a meal prep service to people acorss the US, not just in Columbus OH.

My Experience with Clean Eatz

I ordered Clean Eatz in January, 2026. At this time, I was three months postpartum and decided that I was ready to start tracking calories and be in a slight deficit. Using Clean Eatz for lunches would help me track meals without having to calculate my own creations in my kitchen. I knew I'd be able to ensure a deficit if I controlled my calories in each meal, and having lunches taken care of would make it so much easier on me. Unfortunately, I did not end up sticking with Clean Eatz for a long time simply because I hated the process and the meals. So, I cannot attribute any of my weight loss success to their meals. I'll get to more reasons why I didn't like Clean Eatz, but for now, I'll fill you in on my process. I ordered each meal through the Clean Eatz website, which was also linked to their app. I almost entirely ordered the low carb, double protein option. If you decide you want this, be prepared that you cannot pick and choose which meals are low carb or high protein. It's an all or nothing ordeal. I'd then recieve an email with my pickup days, normally ranging between Tuesday and Thursday. I picked up my meals at a location about 10 minutes from my house, which was so nice. Compared to other meal prep companies, I really liked how convienant their location was. My meals were always in the back of the kitchen; I assume stored in a refridgerator. They have other meals pre-made in the front for those who don't order online, but come in and purchase. Once checked out, you're verbally instructed to eat within two days or freeze. This is when I learned that the meals are actually not cooked at the kitchen, but are shipped from a different kitchen. For some reason, this really bothered me that my meals have been cooked so long ago and travel to so many different locations.

Below, I'll rate Clean Eatz in different categories so you are completely informed with their meals and what to expect!

Taste

2/5

I wish I could say this is a harsh review, but I think a 2 out of 5 is completely accurate. The meals were terrible. They are not made in-house, but cooked at a different location then shipped to your Clean Eatz store. There is no heating instructions or any indicator of how to prepare if refridgerated or frozen. They do not seperate any sauces or creams, so if they are meant to be cold, heating the meal will then heat the cold parts too. Lastly, every vegetable (which, I think the low-carb ones had more vegetables) were so undercooked they almost tasted raw. Completely disgusting.

One thing we did like from Clean Eatz was their pre-made protein balls and fudge bites. I didn't order these, I would simply add to my checkout when in the store. They were really good- my husband and I would eat one a night as a "sweet treat".

CONVENIENCE

3/5

There are pros and cons when ordering Clean Eatz meals in terms of convienance. I liked that Clean Eatz has a storefront; here, you can pick up your pre-ordered meals or simply stop in and buy meal prepped meals in their fully stocked fridge. Some people might believe driving to a store is a pain, but I enjoyed it always being in a fridge and close to my house. What I thought was inconveinant was their app; it's really not user friendly. It gives you no details about your past order history (in case you want to repeat a meal) or have nutritional facts posted at all. If you want to know your macros, it will kick you out to their internet site where they have uploaded macros on a tiny clickable tab, that is easy to miss. I also thought it was inconvienant when ordering their customizable options. Let's say I wanted low carb but my husband does not; if I click "low carb", it automatically applies to each meal. Similar to the double protein option... if I wanted one meal double protein, I'd better be prepared that every meal would then be doubled.

NUTRITION

3/5

I'll keep this short and sweet. I think the larger picture of the macros in each meal are fine, but nutritional quality is probably lacking a bit. Most meals were robusts options, catering to hearty appetites therefore I saw a lot of creams, pastas, etc...And again, they kept the macros friendly, but the actual overview of the food was nutritionally lacking.

FOOD QUALITY

2/5

A solid 2. While picking up my meals one week, I learned that the food is not even prepared at their store, but instead shipped from another prepping location and stored in the storefronts. For some reason, it bothered me that my food has "traveled" so much and so many hands have been on even just the packaging. Clearly the food is not prepared fresh and unfortunately was not told to "consume in a day or two" probably because they'd lose customers.

Listen... I am keeping it real here. Clean Eatz is not for me. I have wanted to finish this blog post for so long but I kept thinking "man, all I am doing is bashing this company.." Well, yes... but, there is a time and place for meal prepped foods. If you have a Clean Eatz near you and you're struggling hitting macros for weight loss, this could be a step in the right direction.
